I know this is a mac fourm, but maybe someone can help me.

I have a Netgear RP614 Router that connection my DSL modem to our home network.
I have port forwarding set up to forward ports 22(ssh) and 800(www) to point to the linux box.
However, from outside the network it appears that the ports aren't even open.
If I redirect them to my OS X computer the ports work fine.
Inside our network we can hit the linux box over port 22 and 800.

If there's anymore info you need to help me let me know.

Are you saying that from the outside you can't see the ports as being open, but they seem to be working? That would be a good thing. The Linksys router in that case would be properly hiding the ports to protect your LAN.

If, on the other hand, you're saying that you can see the ports when you bypass the router, but they don't work at all when you go through the router, then that's a bad thing.

Your post is kind of confusing, so I could use some enlightenment in order to help you out.

In the local network (no firewall) I can connect to the computer through the ports.

With the firewall, I cannot connent to the computer through the ports. When doing a port scan from outside the firewall the ports do not show as open.

Ok, that's something. Everything behind the router should be as available as you make it-share something, or offer it as a service, and your whole LAN should be able to see and use it.

Are you absolutely certain that your Linux machine is using the correct LAN IP? Can you post a picture of the setup screen in which you forwarded the ports? My first thought is that you're forwarding the ports to a phantom IP, or one that the Linux box isn't actually looking at.
