That sounds like a bad idea. Don't do it. Buy everything with cash.

Yeah, if the only way you can afford an iPhone is to spread it across two credit cards then it and the accompanying service plan are not going to be in your budget.

Yeah, 2 credit cards for your MacPro with dual 30s and maxed out RAM and drives I could see; but if you're double-dipping for an iPhone, then you need to reevaluate your budget.

Of course, he may not be double dipping - I've done this on major purchases before - I had the cash on hand, but opened air miles accounts (new cards) in my and my SO's name to get air miles on the purchase - the card limits individually were too low for the entire purchase, but the cards were paid off immediately the bill came. Result - a free flight.

Maybe but not likely in this case. If a $399 purchase has to be spread across multiple cards, then you're most likely running almost maxed out on your cards.

Even more reason to stay away from using 1 or 2 credit cards.

This is a good question. I have three Visa gift cards with $50 on each of them. I think they are treated exactly as credit cards by stores. I like to be able to use all three to buy OS 10.5

Whoops, didn't come back to check this thread.

They're actually debit/credit cards, so yeah, there's money behind them, moms and dads.

Just like there's money in our savings, retirement, two kids' college funds, 'fun' trading account, vacation accounts, supercharger-for-the-car fund... but yeah, thanks for the concern...

Why didn't you say that to begin with? A credit card is not the same thing as a debit card with a VISA or MASTERCARD symbol on it.

Do you mean they're Visa or MasterCard gift cards?

I don't think they're either since he says his parents' money is behind them and there's more than one. I think they might be gift cards, either MC or Visa.

Because my question didn't refer to my financial status, or anything of the sort? Does it matter? OK, let me rephrase: can you use two credit or debit cards at the Apple Store?

Yes, but do you need to show two driver's licenses?
