I love Adium and Fire for OS X. Proteus is all right, IMO.
Is there any program similar to those for OS 9?
I dislike using AIM...any other options?

There's an Classic Mac OS program called "AIMM" that you might want to look into. It might be a little hard to find, but well worth it. A Google search ought to unearth it.

For better or worse, most developers seem to concentrate their efforts on OSX now...
