Hi everyone,

We have two users at work on PB G4s, about 1-1.5 years old. I believe they are either 400 or 500MHz G4s. Both are running OS 9.2.

Now, they will use their computer throughout a normal 8 hour workday. By the end, the keyboard panel and bottom of the laptops are hot enough to burn skin.

Other users at work running more recent PBG4s with OS X do not experience this at all.

What I am wondering is this: Will upgrading to OS X fix this problem? Is it simply a power management problem that OS X can handel better? Or is this a hardware problem that needs to be solved by either a physical cooling solution or an upgrade to a newer laptop?

Thanks.
