Suddenly last night (most of) my MBP 15" keyboard stopped working. None of the alphanumeric keys work when I am logged in under my main user account. The arrow keys work in Mail but not Finder.

I was typing an article in BBEdit when suddenly I was no longer able to navigate with the arrow keys or add or remove text with the keyboard.

Under my main account, System Preferences crashes when I access the Keyboard and Mouse pane.

The keyboard works fine in XP (via Boot Camp)

I created a new user account on my machine and that has no keyboard troubles, and the K&M prefpane is just fine.

Things I have tried:
- (Re)-applied 10.4.7 combo updater
- Restart in Safe Mode
- Trashing various plist files
- repairing permissions

and no difference.

Any other ideas (apart from reinstall from scratch ... as I am away from home and don't have the disks with me)?

Thanks.

Or should I just transfer all my prefs and files over to the new user account?

Any pitfalls? Any software that automates that?
