This might seem a strange question, But i've been wondering for ages now... Why doesn't the Extentions Manager show all the extentions!? I hope you all understand what I mean here... For example, Count the number of ENABLED extentions you have in your Extentions manager, Then count how many more you have in the Extentions sytems file! Why is this?

well, one thing for sure is that EM doesn't see, or look inside, folders. also, if the file type isn't on the "this is a startup document" list that EM has, it won't show up either. examples of things on the list are: INIT (most normal extensions), CDEV (most normal control panels), PRER (chooser printers), shlb (shared libraries), RDEV (chooser networks i.e appletalk or dave)
the majority of those that are conspicuously absent are "thng". I have no idea what, if anything, that's short/stands for.

I have had startup freezes, hard crashes and other things happen depending on EM. I got Extensions Overload from the MacAddict CD and it ROCKS. My startup problems are over. It shows everything in the System INIT and CDEV folders and even recommends those that aren't necessary. Following the instructions returned my mac to good health.
