I just bought a VERY expensive program that requires a data CD to run. Since I travel quite a bit, I am worried about damaging this disk, so I'd like to make a copy so as to keep the original safe at home.

Unfortunately, simply copying the contents of the original and burning a new CD-ROM didn't work with Finder.

Anyone have any clever ideas to help me with this predicament?

Disk Utility can make a disk image from a CD, and then burn that image to a new CD. It should be a perfect clone, as long as there's not some form of copy protection on the disk.
