I just heard on satellite television (Italian news service from Rome) that the Pope is extremely ill. He has very low blood pressure and an extremely high fever with fluid in the lungs.
This may be it for him.
Good thing he doesn't live in Florida.
I love the Pope and feel bad that he is sick.

Sigh - different case altogether - give it a rest.
With the condition the Pope is in, I don't know why he even tries to perform his duties - he's too frail for all that work/stress.

You have to respect the man.
He felt that he had a duty to Christ. He often said that Christ didn't stop when he carried the cross so why should he?
He is a symbol of courage and humility.

Have you become the Grim Reaper or something Cody?
What happened to the "kindler, gentler" Cody who just posted mindless crap about the neighbors or the latest article in US magazine?

No doubt. He is everything you say he is. But give up on the death watch, already.

So, business as usual, then?
Not to be insensitive, but the man's been on death's door for a while now.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the Pope has been dead for years, and that what we're seeing now is a hybrid pseudo-clone carrying his DNA mixed with that of Schrodinger's Cat.
In all seriousness, though I have deep disagreements with him on many issues, I respect the man and I hope he finds relief from this.

Is the pope the silly guy dressed in white with the funny hat? The one who is so out of touch with reality? Or is it the cardboard cut out that appears in the window for 15 minutes with his hand raised?

It is too bad -- he was an incredibly athletic and vital young man, going rock climbing, kayaking, & mountain climbing.
Yet all anyone will remember now is his extended decrepitude.

No I don't respect him at all for some of the things he has said and done like ignoring molestation in the church and his views on gay marriage.
Oh and what Christian doesn't feel they have a duty to christ, just gives them an excuse to push their views on others.

Speak for yourself. I mainly remember him from the early 80s when he was extremely vigorous standing up to Communism, surviving a Soviet plot to assassinate him, braving many flights on Alitalia (and kissing the ground every time he landed, to repeat an old joke) and so on.

Kind of like gay-atheist weiners. They feel they have to post numerous hate-filled threads about religion, and injecting their views in threads that have nothing to do with either.
CLUE: They have no respect for you as well.

Funny, don't remember saying I am an atheist.
My views on religions are from being targeted by religious groups about being gay. I don't care if someone is a christian, my neighbors are and I even donate money to their church fund raisers. The difference they are not stickler thumpers like yourself and others here.
Can you believe that AMERICAN Christian groups are actually dumping money into Advertising in Canada to stop gay marriages in Canada? How completely sick/warped/twisted/evil is that?
Do me a favor, come up with ONE case of a gay person beating someone up because they are straight, or one gay person beating up a a Christian because of what they practice. Common, I dare ya.
Clue: I don't care who has respect for me. I am going to live my life the way I like no matter what you or anyone else tries to do about it

The Pope is a gentle and beautiful soul.
I prayed to wish him a peace and to be free of pain, that's all.
I know where he's going and I don't think he'll recover, no.
He has lived a monumental life.

ya we get it, you think he is bigger than the Spice Girls.
At any rate if you really believe in heaven you should be doing cartwheels as I am sure they are rolling out the red carpet for him right now.

Word (no pun intended). No amount of praying has ever managed to help a pope stay healthy forever, so let's just let the poor guy have some peace.

Man, death really does come in threes.
Johnnie Cochran, Mitch Hedberg and the Pope.
There's something to this, but I'm not sure what.

There are three kinds of people in the world: Those who can count and those who cannot.
You said that death comes in "threes" right?
Man, death really does come in threes.
Johnnie Cochran, Mitch Hedberg and the Pope.
So, where is Terri on your list?

Only 3 people died today? Or just 3 people you consider important enough to count?

I see. Well, I guess I could technically do a search for every obituary in every national paper, and make a truly complete list that would be up to your standards, but forgive me if I don't rank the empty shell of the former Terri Schiavo right up there with Cochrane, Hedberg and the Pope.
Frankly, the woman, Terri Schiavo, died in 1980. All that remained until now was a brain-dead, pseudo-celebrity, who should have been allowed to pass away with dignity years ago. Without going on to much of a rant, barring the legal implications of euthanasia, the death of Terri Schiavo affects no one but her immediate family. I'd rather let them have some privacy on the matter.
Cochrane, however, was a national figure. Like him or not, he's had a real impact on the way we as a culture view litigation. Mitch Hedberg made a career out of making us laugh (at least those of us that like to laugh). And you'd be hard pressed to deny the importance of the Pope. My singling out of these three simply reflects my view of the surreality of celebrity, and the weirdness that it's given the last few days.
Let's just let Terri finally rest in peace, shall we?

Sorry, SWG. I should have been more specific that I was replying to Cody.
AAAAAAANYWAY. I feel very bad for the Pope or anyone that has to suffer like this. I hope he manages to find some peace soon, however that may be.

I think the rule of 3 only applies to famous people, and I doubt you can qualify as a famous person dying if your only claim to fame is the dying itself.

Actually some people in Africa are dying because the pope says contraception and condoms are against god's laws. Yeah free AIDS for everyone!

Wrong, he would rather you either not have sex out of wedlock or get married.
I don't remember him promoting poverty and AIDS.
For someone with an alternative lifestyle, you sure do like to spread hate.
