I'm selling my iBook G4 to a friend and will be getting a MacBook very soon

I have a few questions for the people who own them before I order mine...

1. How does the 1.83gHz processor compare to the 2.0gHz? Has anyone tried overclocking? Can you even do it?

2. Has anyone installed a different HDD? I would like to upgrade to a 7200rpm drive or higher.

3. How does Windows XP Pro run on the MacBook? Does it lag at all compared to OSX?

4. In the iBook the graphics card (32mb) was definetily the crutch of the notebook, and brought it down. How does the 64mb 950 handle things such as videos, games, graphic/photo editing, flash etc.?

1) With Univeral apps, almost no difference. With Rossetta apps, the 2.0GHz is faster.
2) Yes. There are a few threads in the MacBook forum about this.
3) No. It is pretty fast and smooth.

Thanks for the reply! I have one more question I forgot to put in originally. It is edited into the original post.

Can anyone add some input to this and possibly answer my fourth question? Please and thanks.

The MacBooks are a little weak there. Just like the iBook, it is there biggest bad mark. It is fine for most 3D games, but forget about Quake and Doom. It is also fine for photo enhancement and the like. It is pretty good at Final Cut Studio, except for Motion, which it struggles with.

Well I'm not much of a computer gamer, mainly just a PSX and SNES emulator is what I use. I know how to use Flash, but I stopped using it because my iBook lagged so bad with it.

What's this 64MB 950 you mention? The specs say the MacBook has integrated graphics (best compensated for by maxing out the RAM). It's the MB Pro that has a card (ATI). If you're talking console game emulation and other casual gaming you'd be fine - harder core 3D stuff will obviously give you lower FPS than with the MP Pro's dedicated GPU.

Oh you're right I mixed those up I think. I am talking about the MacBook 64mb v.card though.

No you're right, you just missed out the GMA in front of the 950.

Well I think I'm going to order my MacBook very soon. I am kind of holding out waiting on updates with the rumors of new chipsets.
