Can anyone recommend a good one? I need a logo for my new web project. The logo will be used on biz cards, the site, presentations and vinyl stickering.
Whats a typical price for a logo designer? I've always made them in house but I want something with extra jazz this time/

I'd like to suggest something along these lines:

You could just substitute "sig" with "internet project" or "company"

You can always substitute the "furst" with "secind" or so.

If I had a cent for every time I've heard the do it cheap this time, there's the chance of future work line I'd have almost a quarter.

Peter, depending on what you're looking for I might be able to help you out.

$75 for a logo design? Where's Art_Director?

Professional design firms charge over a $100/hr and can devote hours to a brand project.

That said, I charge less than that for freelance.

As good of an idea as that site is, I fear that it's stuff like this that will one day put most designers out on the streets. Fighting with hundreds of other designers over a $250 project? Working for free until you win?

Ugh.

I've been looking for a firm or person to help me develop a brand / strategy / logo for my company as well.. Here's what I've come across so far, aside from a couple of friends willing to help. I have no idea on how much they charge tho.

http://saffron-consultants.com
http://www.landor.com/
http://www.lippincott.com/
http://www.interbrand.com/
etc.
From their website design alone I think I'd personally like to go with lippincott, but again, they probably charge a ton.
Anyone know who Apple used/uses?

That post is a spambot post (I reported it earlier, but I suppose all the mods are off having lives and celebrating Christmas and stuff like that—the nerve!).

We're watching - the clues are unclear. So we're giving him/her a chance to say more.

Well, that's not my problem - it works brilliantly for me as a customer.

Maybe in the short term and for projects that don't demand any insight. Commoditization is never a good idea for any industry.

I've deleted a post from what turned out to NOT be an independent designer... Sorry it took so long.

Precisely what corporations say right before they outsource factories, etc., to India or China.

Apple has been using TBWA/Media Arts Lab (a branch of über huge TBWA/Chiat/Day) They pretty-much define expensive.

Honestly, you guys who are looking for logo or brand help should try to work with local shops or freelancers whenever possible. It helps your community and employs local talent.

Except that it's ugly. Sorry, but I can't help but say it.

That's why he's gonna kill us. So we got to beat it. Yeah. Before he let's loose the marmosets on us."

It might make a difference what the endeavor is all about. If it's a skywriting company, for example, the logo you've done would be perfect, as it looks a little like skywriting. You get the idea. What's the context? With that, we may be able to play "focus group" for you and help you tweak what you have into something that works better.

That's a valid point, however the local designers I've met seem to have done stuff that's either too clichéd or just flagrant. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely good, but I need someone that can enhance/communicate an idea that's meant to be eternal.
BTW, thanks for the TBWA link, they have a local office here.. let's see what they can come up with.
