Nutella does NOT melt in the microwave.

Well, that was unexpected. It actually gets harder and a bit crunchy. How weird.

I should probably get a blog

The label clearly states that you should not refrigerate or microwave Nutella. Did you do this for experimental purposes, or had your Nutella gotten too thick and hard to spread?

Experimental. I wanted it melted so I could pour it over ice cream.

And I never read labels of food items. Maybe I should...

Hmmmm.... "This product processed in a facility that may also process..." followed by a list as long as your arm of potential allergens is a VERY good reason to start reading food labels.

Pouring very soft Nutella over ice cream would be a great idea. Look up "double boiler" and do some research. It's really much easier to melt something with heat than with radio waves, even if it seems a bit slower. And it won't turn crunchy that way.

Yes, I learnt my lesson. Apparently, just putting it in a toaster oven would do the trick.

Clearly you've never worked with chocolate as a creative medium before.

Enough about besson, who has pictures of a fondue pot? Turtle, any heat-based device that melts chocolate or cheese will do what you want-and they'll have other interesting culinary uses as well.

Oh I know.

Unfortunately, I only have a cheese fondue pot (Caquelon), which are different than what you use for chocolate or meat fondue. Cheese fondue uses a clay / ceramic pot, wheres meat and chocolate fondue uses a stainless steel pot. I guess you could use the cheese fondue pot as well, but then again, it's just not right

How do you like US nutella? How does it compare to the German version?

To be honest, in Germany, I ate Nusspli.

I do like the US Nutella though. I just can't tell how different it is.

I've never had Nutella. I suppose, having read through this thread now, I should buy a jar. Is it something that can be spread onto skin, creating a fine, flavorful garment?

Unexpected factoids of the day:

1. Factoids are not, in fact, factoids, but regular facts. This is anality.
2. There’s more leg space on an easyJet flight from London to Copenhagen (ticket price: about $40) than on a Lufthansa flight from Munich to Beijing (ticket price: a lot more than $40). This is absurd.
3. turtl777 has an arm of potential allergens. This is pedantry. And somewhat scary.

It's good if you like chocolate (as I do). And I found that it's very popular in Israel, where they eat it at breakfast.

It also tastes slightly different in every country.
