1984-2004 is the real 20 years. January was the real 20th anniversary. So far, nothing.

Does anyone think that Apple will actually do anything? I expected at least an acknowledgement of some kind on the iMacs, but alas... nada.

Since Apple chose to call the 1997 abomination the "20th anniversary Macintosh" they would need a new name. Any suggestions?

No.

(Reason: Significantly different management from the 1997 era.)

Only if it's a G5 Cube will I care.

And it won't be, so I don't care.

It appears that the answer if no. Steve has become very unpredictable.

The last one cost $10,000 didn't sell well and had some serious issues with the sound.

I didn't think so, but wanted everyone's opinion. I guess if there was going to be anything, it would have happened by now.

Oh well. Now, I'm waiting for September iMacs.

I'm afraid that really was the 20th anniversary: of Apple, not of the Mac. That's as real as any other anniversary you could care to name.

A new special edition, anniversary iMac will be released soon.

Is this a fact ? No.

It's a hunch, and besides I've read it a few places also. Doesn't mean it's true, but we shall see soon enough.

The real question is: What is the difference between an anal dildo and a regular dildo?

Maybe the September imacs will be known as the 20t anniversary mac?.. Or maybe not i guess.
BUt i don't think there will be a limited edition mac though.. unless in january they stunt like "our mac is now an adult (21)" here's our birthday present to you from apple?

"iMac", "Paris", and "birthday" were three parent searches Steve made in succession in SpotLight during the WWDC keynote... And then a few days later Apple said new iMacs were coming in September. Obviously, Steve was hinting at a new iMac to be released at Apple Expo, to mark the 20th birthday of the Mac. Perfect timing for a launch since Apple Expo is Aug. 31 - Sept. 4.

Why should Apple make a newly designed computer for an anniversary year? I'd prefer that they stay with their current designs and just work on key hardware issues. (Is this an acceptable answer? )

Why ? Perhaps because they have done it before.

I think it looks rather dumb, with it's fixed monitor not being at eye level. (Or is it eye level? Hard to tell by looking at it)

I'm satisfied with Apples current computer designs. It would be hard to perfect on it. A new mouse would be cool though.

1. Shipping a one-button mouse with the machine forces developers not to assume the user has a multi-button mouse.

2. You can get a Logitech mouse with like 6 buttons for $25. And the optical engine in those kicks the crap out of anything Apple would bundle with the machine by default anyway. And you can get them even cheaper if you opt for a model with only 3 buttons.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Shiite, Eug, you have a eug brain. Want to participate in some cognitive science researches on campus?

Thank you for the info; although, unluckily, I will be in Paris just after the Expo, it seems.

Hmmm... Eug has a eug brain... That's good I suppose. Anyways, you're giving me way too much credit... This info has been posted all over the net already.
