I'm not sure I like the new interface, but I guess we're stuck with it. It seems every time we get a new interface the interface elements get smaller. I've got a 51" TV! Use the whole screen, not 1/3 of it. The text could be larger, the various boxes could be larger. This isn't a smartphone, but we're stuck with a smartphone interface.

Yeah it disconnected me in the middle of a game. I go to the dashboard and login and it gave me the update.

Can't log in on my Arcade unit to update.

If you want to connect to X-Box live, yes.

By the way, I like the under the Social menu where your avatar is how you can view your total gamerscore and completed games under the achievements section.

33477/50995 gamerscore (65.6%)
15 completed games
1697/2476 achievements (68.5%)

Curious, but where do you all stand?

It's just rows of suggestions. Pretty simplistic and boring. They should take note of Hulu Plus' interface. Very slick and nicely done.

Jesus, I had to download 3 different updates for ESPN before it launched.

Just got up, I'll update tonight, it was going to be silly o clock before anything happened lastnight. So, do old themes still work? The background picture ones and the animated premium type.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I'm hoping now that I don't need to move my profile around the house by memory card, those four hard locks I'd see periodically in MW3 will disappear.

Finally downloaded the update

I like the overall "style" and "look"... and that's about it.

The menu's feel convoluted, and why in the world cannot I not prioritize and customize my interface. Sorry MS i don't care about "social" features.

What's so bad about the new Netflix app? (I've been accessing Netflix through my AppleTV.)

• Autoplay instead of the ability to browse
• Now needs to load the main menu when exiting a show or movie
• Goes to some new weird multi-window at end credits
• No longer shows time remaining
• Fast-forwarding doesn't work (would show time ticking forward, hit play and would just rebuffer and start playing from where I started trying to fast forward)

Oh yeah, no ff or rw previews.

Edit: All that from watching half of one show last night.

So once again I cannot sign into Xbox Live. Tells me to check xbox.com/servicealerts for more info, and that page does not exist.

****ing Microsoft!

Know what would be nice instead of forcing me to update, asking me if I want to update, since the answer is "No, since my xbox works just fine you twats"

Edit: This has also been happening for months now, but I cannot log into Xbox.com at all, when I do it gets stuck in infinite loop and never loads any page. What the hell? If it does manage to load something it gets to a page saying this site may be experiencing a problem.

Now would be a good time Jawbone to come in and gently stroke our hair telling us he's been through this with PS3 for years and it'll all be alright.

After finding the correct status page it appears Live is down at the moment.

Guess this is one of the few times this has ever happened during my 6 years with XBL, but it is annoying nonetheless. I thought the old dashboard worked just fine, especially the Netflix app, now they fixed what wasn't broken, and ended up breaking it. Classic.

BTW, I have no opinion of the update yet, but as far as Netflix is concerned they didn't have to **** things up by releasing a new app, so I place the blame squarely on them, rather than MS.

I don't know how Microsoft could release an average and mostly disappointing update and the next day release a well designed and executed iPhone app (which I've been hoping would come some day)

Any other iPhone/touch users check this out yet?
It's called "My Xbox Live"

Yeah the "My Xbox Live" app is pretty slick. Kudos to Microsoft for releasing a well designed iOS app. Is there a version available for Android?

The new TOS for XBox says you can't sue Microsoft.

It took me forever to find the achievement section. It was MUCH easier to find it in the old interface.

I'll post my info tonight. The only thing I know is I have 6 games completed.

If the new (and completely sucky) Netflix app is driving you crazy, here's a way to revert to using the old version. This will allow to use the old OR new version of Netflix app.

How to Revert to the Old Netflix App on the New Xbox 360 Update

I forgot to mention, the new Dashboard launched without YouTube. Wasn't YouTube briefly rumored for the Spring update? It does not take 6 months to make a YouTube app.

This may be a UK or Europe thing, but I just downloaded the YouTube app.

Edit: Muzu, Blinkbox and MSN Video are there too. They weren't available last week with the fall update. Usual MS to update the update a week later .

So they did release YouTube to everyone yesterday...

Too bad I still can't download it. I have one of those 512 MB Arcade units and it said the memory was full, so I deleted 10 MB of stuff (The only stuff that wasn't system items, Netflix, or my Gamertag) and now it just sits at 0% downloaded when I try to DL Youtube. Fantastic.)

Can't believe all my memory is being used up by the new system.

It was for the bedroom.

If push comes to shove I can repurpose the Flash memory stick I was using to carry my profile between rooms to hold apps on the Arcade.

If you were in Ottawa I could give you a whole 20GB HD.

I think I have one sitting around, since I replaced it with a 120GB HD.

Man, I got Xbox stuff around here. I have 2 Xbox 360s, 8 controllers - I once played Halo 3 with 7 dummy controllers. HD transfer cable, a couple Mics, message pad, etc

I'm pretty sure the new Netflix app also buffers less than before. I can't even fast forward through the titles of a show without it needing to rebuffer. Atrocious.

Edit: It's an impossible search term for google, but can the YouTube app, you know, search YouTube?

Just turned on and had a look and the 4od and Demand 5 UK TV catchup apps are on now. I've got some more TV to watch now . I think there's more content on here than the PS3 version of 4od, and it's using the Xbox squares interface instead of its own thing on PS3 (I'm saying this as a good thing).

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I've noticed real problems trying to load HD content through Netflix.

Anything rated at HD loads at 2 bars first and will stay there unless I pause the video for a couple minutes, at which time it resumes at HD. The old app played all HD content immediately.

I have noticed that it will start at 1 bar occasionally and build up to three (apparently we lost a bar in the upgrade as well).

Not a good year for Netflix's decisions.

This just solidifies my decision to rely on an Apple TV for netflix rather than my 360. The new netflix is terrible.
