I just got War of the Worlds and it wont play on my iMac, neither DVD Player or Front Row will play it, it doesn't even mount to the desktop but you can see its presence in Disk Utility.
The DVD's play in a normal DVD player but not on the Mac.
Anyone know how to play it?

I could tell you, but then I'd be in violation of the INDUCE ACT.

signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

You could play it with VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc), although that's not the optimal solution.

You could also take a stand against defective discs, and return it to the store you bought it from.

Indeed, return the disk as defective - shite film anyway.

Will VLC be able to play it if it isn't mounting on the desktop?

It plays in VLC, but is there any way to get it to play in Front Row?

Which "War of the Worlds?" There are three different films drawing on the H.G. Wells tale on DVD right now plus the TV series "sequel" to the 1950's film. Can you be more specific?

I watched it this evening on my iBook (bought in the UK) and it played fine (War of the Worlds 2005)

Odd that it won't mount on your Mac. However it is a crap movie and for that alone you should return it. Besides the fact that it doesn't seem to play on your Mac. VLC is fine but it should play on Apple DVD Player as well.

cheers
