Just got a new 12 combo drive and I love it.

Looking to buy the new Sony DVD camcorder.
Will my PB accept and read the mini 3" dvd media? Does the disc feed into the slot drive the same way as a full size dvd?

TIA

No, you risk getting the disk caught in the drive and you'll have no way of getting it out unless you take it in for repair.
Maybe there's an adaptor availalbe, anyone else out there with feedback?

Just checked Apple support site and it looks like it's a no go. They clearly state the 3" media is not supported on PB slot loaders.

i remember Sony's Slot Loading CD Walkman included an adapter to snap onto the 3" CD so it can be inserted into the Slot Loader. find something like that and it should work...i think.

You can buy those separately. Here is an example of one, but I still don't know if I'd take the risk of putting one in my PowerBook. Er, when I get my PowerBook that is.

Just curious, but wouldn't a DVD camcorder have some kind of relatively high speed transfer like USB or firewire built in? Waste of money if it doesn't if you ask me.
