so I'm on the way home from teaching a piano lesson last night. I drive through a jack in the box. give my order and my order doesn't pop up on the screen. I ask for my order to be repeated and silence. so I drive up to the window, and the guy (in broken english) asks what I ordered because he forgot to punch it into the computer. I tell him, but he doesn't know the meal numbers. he messes up the order AFTER getting a printed menu, about 3 times. I go around and park and go inside and ask to talk with a manager. the same guy was the only one taking orders and he said that he is the manager and called me an ahole for wanting to talk to a manager about him. he said this really loudly and out comes a lady with a name tag that says manager on it, and so I try to tell her what happened, but the order taking guy kept interrupting me telling her lies and saying I was very very rude to him and called him names (which in no way was accurate) and then the manager lady decided to side with the order taking guy. "My brother would never lie to me, I want you to leave the premises or I'll call the police!" she then escorted me out of the jack in the box. all the time the brother smirking at me.

edit:
This happened in a southern california jitb near my home here.

It's amazing what goes for "customer service" these days. You should try living in the Caribbean. What you experienced at JITB is considered normal here.

Contact Jack-in-the-Box corporate headquarters or the franchise owner. I'm sure they would love to hear that their "manager" treated a customer so poorly.

Contact the owners, and be precise in your details. They really need to know what's going on.

That's one of the problems with giant franchises. They usually don't care as much about individual customers because they make enough and don't need everyone's business. If you want customer service you need to go to a "Mom and Pop" store/individual business owners. They need your business so they provide much better customer service.

It's a trade off. You have to decide which is more important to you...customer service or cheap prices. The corporate franchising of businesses has really ruined customer service for everyone. I definitely get better customer service from individual businesses especially if the owner actually interacts with their customers and isn't an absentee owner.

in todays economy you might be surprised what a business will do to keep a customer...

Still no matter what, call the company and complain... I work retail and crap like this I dont tolerate...

Yes, I agree that today's economy has many businesses trying harder but on average I have noticed that I get better customer service from individual business owners.

I went to a Burger King and ask for a Whooper. They told me they no longer sell Whoppers. I was so pissed, I punch the cash register.

I’m pretty sure that most Jtib’s are company owned and operated, so if you go to their website, you could probably file a complaint.

I’ve been noticing lately myself that a lot of Jtib employees barely speak english.

That's pretty disturbing. Call in and say you're the health inspector coming in for an inspection in a couple of days due to customer complaints. Then call Jack Corporate.

No horror stories, but every time I end up at the Jack in the Box near my apartment, usually because everything locally owned with good food is closed, the people working at the counter barely acknowledge my presence. I try to be polite, say hello, please, and thank you, and they hardly ever say a word. Sometimes they don't even tell me how much I owe, they just kind of look down and gesture towards the display on the cash register.

I know it's a crappy job, but it would be nice if they could at least be pleasant and vaguely friendly sometimes.

I could tell you some horror stories from the other side of the counter, where all kinds of things were done to the food of the ahole patron.

I will say your situation doesn't really illustrate a complaint I've had, but I'm usually quick to remind people that customer care isn't what it used to be because customers aren't what they used to be.

I have a couple of bad service stories, but nothing too spectacular.
I don't eat fast food, but recently I was forced to go to KFC with a friend.
Instead of mash potatoes - fries, four biscuits ordered - three delivered, steamed broccoli ordered - none to be found in the bag.

At a local restaurant with about 12 people: a huge order was placed, but the waiters insisted on bringing the dishes out one at time with such a delay, that people's food were becoming cold as they waited for other's food to be received.

I politely asked if the food could be brought out together, so that we could eat together (what a concept). We were willing to wait.
The waiter got pissed, who then pissed off the other waiters and the owner. They started calling us 'tourists' - which is funny because I live two blocks away, and the others not much farther than crosstown.
So I told the waiter to f off, and we all left without paying. The waiters chased us down the street demanding a tip, so I threw about .40 in change at them, and again told them to f off.
What a heartwarming experience.

I would've gone with the old "Here's a tip: Treat your customers better!"

That would've pissed them off more. Some restaurants actually despise their patrons.

I'm not sure if taking more than half of your daily allowance of sodium in a single meal is "healthy."

I did say, "enough" - although that's sort of like saying "recommended" in daily allowance.

Sodium = yum.

Also anything with a shelf life of <5 years is not worth eating.
