Game 7 last night reminded me of the Game 7 against detroit that ended up 2-1 and a Cup victory for the Pens.

The year before, Sid followed popular superstition and didn't touch the Prince of Wales trophy. Pens lost. The next year he hoisted it and Pens beat the Red Wings. Last night he was hoisting it with a big smile. This is gonna be good

Mario skated it around one of the years he won.

Anyway, I have the Sharks as a heavy favorite in this series.

New poll finds that 9 in 10 Native Americans not offended by 'Redskins' name - CBSSports.com

In fact, there are far more NAs who are proud of the team name, than there are offended by it. Isn't it time we stop trying to speak for minority groups and telling them how they should feel? Apparently this white guy disagrees and apparently thinks they're immoral savages who don't know what's best for themselves.

He hoisted it in both '91 and '92. That 2008 was the only time a Penguin didn't hoist it.

Fifa: Sepp Blatter, Jerome Valcke & Markus Kattner 'awarded themselves £55m' - BBC Sport

Former high-ranking Fifa officials Sepp Blatter, Jerome Valcke and Markus Kattner awarded themselves pay rises and bonuses worth $80m (£55m) over five years, say Fifa lawyers.

Football's governing body revealed the contracts of ex-president Blatter, fired ex-secretary general Valcke and sacked former finance director Kattner one day after a Swiss police raid.

Fifa's lawyers said there was evidence that the trio made "a coordinated effort" to "enrich themselves" between 2011 and 2015.
Honestly, all due respect to Goodell, but has there ever been a more corrupt, disgusting, evil leader in sports history?

Well, Joao Havelange, Blatter's predecessor and the one that set up the corrupt machinery, was worse. Samaranch probably. Primo Nebiolo, former strongman in the IAAF, was pretty bad, although he admittedly did some good for the sport as well. This used to be common back in to Cold War era as any attempt to clean up the sport could be used by "the other side" claiming to be an attempt to corrupt the sport.

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-videos...No-2-Tom-Brady

Via Rich Eisen's Twitter:

"Tom Brady is the only player to rank inside the top 10 of every NFL Top 100 since the list began.

He's never been lower than 4th."

His rank was 2nd last year, behind the man-child who threw a temper tantrum and got owned by Denver. The same defense TB was an extra point away from taking into overtime in the AFCCG.

But yeah, let's suspend him for 4 games for something science and common sense says never happened.

Reading sek and listening to Ben Affleck reminds me of just how angry NE fans remain.

Aren't there only like, 3 teams that can realistically win the title next season now? I understand KD wants a ring, but the sports overall competitiveness seems to be at an all-time low.

If he has the balls? This is Tom Brady we're talking about: ultra-competitive, won't take no for an answer, temper...

It seems to me that the higher this goes, the worse it goes for the NFL, even if the Supreme Court denies Brady.

Nah, I think this makes Brady look sad. The legal situation seems clear cut. The SCOTUS doesn't give a shit if the NFL commish is a dictator with no interest in facts or science.

The most Patriot thing that can come out of this is our backup (Jimmy G) wins 3 out of 4 and nets us a first round pick trade from another team, then promptly drops off a cliff.

Tom Brady Says He'll Stop Fighting And Take The NFL's Four-Game Suspension

Thus ends the litigation phase of Ballghazi.

AFC East is elated, except for Bills DT Marcell Dareus.

"If we win, all right, we win. But I don't feel like I really won until I beat the guy. I love playing against Brady. I get up for him. I play against him every year, and he knows I'm coming. So for him not to be up there tears me up a little bit. But the second time I see him, I'm going to be excited to play against him."

Really? You think that's a bad thing? Skip and Stephen A are two of the worst things to happen to modern sports television - walking two-minute worst take sound bites.

Good riddance. Not that it will make ESPN any better, but good riddance.

Stephen A and Bayless are shining examples of just how far ESPN has fallen. They offer only retarded "hot takes" and click bait bullshit. ESPN is TMZ without the self-awareness.

Good grief, poor Romo. From Jerry Jones rushing him back on the field to re-break his collarbone last year and now a broken back in a preseason game. He needs get out before he lives the rest of his life completely crippled.

Let's replace the Star Spangled Banner with America the Beautiful or My Country Tis of Thee.

Is there any truth to the story that Kaepernick has converted to Islam?

Let's not have this go off the rails guys, if you want to talk about anthems and racial history of said anthems I hear there's a sub forum for that.

My opinion is as such: Kaepernick is an average QB at best. Great mobility, cannon of an arm but ultimately a gimmick that has no staying power in the NFL. I don't give a shit what his personal beliefs are, but if he doesn't feel like standing for the anthem I give less that a shit about that.

Kaepernick bores the crap out of me, both on and off the field.

I don't care.

Abdul-Rauf did the same thing in the 90s. Kaepernick's story will be forgotten in much the same way.

Being mad at the police, or perceived racial injustices, has nothing to do with veterans (we stand to show our respect for their sacrifices), and that's what makes Kaepernick a dumbass wanker. Ironically, he was also disrespecting Black veterans and soldiers with his ignorant actions. In fact, I'll bet you didn't think of that either, did you?

Understanding why things are done in the first place, like why we stand for the raising of the Flag (it's about the Flag, not the anthem), is the most important perspective.

I'm not going to go round and round with you about this. Because at the end of the day you are going to just insist upon your uninformed opinion regardless. But suffice it to say that the lyrics to the "Star Spangled Banner" ... as written in the first place ... quite literally celebrated the fact that the ancestors of African-Americans who dared to flee slavery or fight for their freedom could never escape the terror of being hunted incessantly or murdered. That's reason enough for any African-American to refuse to stand for that song in and of itself. So you are right about one thing. It has nothing whatsoever to do with veterans. Now as I indicated earlier I personally think that "America The Beautiful" is a more appropriate song for our national anthem for this very reason. But in the meantime Kaepernick has every right to not stand for the national anthem. And other people have the right to be all up in their feelings because he took a stand very similar to those taken by Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, Tommie Smith, John Carlos, Jackie Robinson and others. Same sh*t ... different day.
