I've encountered a curious bug with the software update control panel. It works fine if I'm connected to the Internet on a straight dial-up PPP connection. However, when using my cable modem with IPNetRouter (necessary since I send data upstream over the phone line via PPP and receive data through ethernet via the modem), my system will freeze if I press "update now." Anyone ever heard of this one?

I've got the same problem. Software Update freezes when I use my DSL modem, but works fine when I dial in with Remote Access. The same thing happens with SETI@home when sending my results - I have to use my dial-up connection.

No clue why.
