Hi all,

I had my lovely G4 stolen from work, so I am having to work from a PC
(running NT4) at the moment. I'm often dragging a complete web site onto a
PC zip disk and taking it home....booting up my iMac (system 9.0.4) and
putting in the zip disk into the USB250 Zip drive. The zip disk then has its desktop rebuilt.

But....and here's the weird thing....rebuilding seems to be capitalising all
my gif files (for example "image.gif" suddenly becomes "IMAGE.GIF") and all
the folders....it appears to leave the html files alone. The files are
permanently altered...in other words, when I return to work, they remain as
capitals.

Very weird and I have no idea why it is doing that ?? I've had to use a
script to convert them to lower case before taking them back to work.

I've checked both the Apple and Iomega sites.

Cheers,

Phil

Sorry to hear about your G4. Look at http://www.visiontec.com/rename They have a small program (for Windows and Mac) that can rename websites for a different platform. It does the repairs quite easy. I've used it to port websites from a PC to a Mac. I've seen the capitalizing too when copying files between a mac and pc in a local network. It looked to me that it renamed files to the dos 8.3 standard. Maybe if you take up this standard, files won't be capitalized?
