Well, the real demolition has finally started at Tiger Stadium. I know there a few Michiganders here, so you may like to see some of the photos and a couple quick videos.

I'll make periodic trips and update the site as more happens.

I loved that park.

That was until I went to Comerica Park. It doesn't have the posts in the lower deck to obstruct your view like Tiger Stadium, but the new park is pretty nice.

I remember seeing Cecil knock one of out of Tiger. A rundown stadium but it still had an aura.

The last time I went to Tiger Stadium was when a friend of mine and I went after getting free ticket from jim Abbot. Jim Abbot and my friend both pitched at Flint Central and were good friends. That was a long time ago, I think '93.

My last MLB game was at Shea like 2 years ago. Pedro threw a clinic against the Mets.

WOO HOO. BRING ON THE SUPER WAL-MART!!!!

This makes me sad. The new park is nice, for sure, but I don't see a reason why we just let this one die. Other cities cherish their old ball parks.

Yeah, they're knocking down Shea too, it was an OK place to see a game but has no character. If they were going to blow the place up (which they're not), I'd be first in line to flip the switch. And I've seen a ton of good games there!

The new stadium looks like it will be great! But they're building it over the left field wall of Shea this season, which is making Shea play like more of an enclosed park. It's making it less of a pitchers' park in its last season than it has historically been.

Rumor has it that this is Yankee Stadium's last year too, but If it really was I'm sure they'd be talking about it in the media more....

No, that's quite clearly Pedro on the mound. Amazingly, he's not injured in that photo.

Ahh, missed the "against" part. It would likely have been a lot more than two years ago, anyway, since before the Mets he last played in the NL in 1997, for a team that no longer exists.

Do the Nationals' throwback uniforms have a big tri-color "M" on them?

i've wondered that about the cleveland browns' franchise records for years. have they transferred to the ravens?

That's actually a special case: the Ravens left the team colors and history in Cleveland, and started life like a new franchise. The NFL knew that they wanted to resurrect the Browns, so they arranged to keep the team history there. With most other franchise moves, (like, for example, the Colts move from Baltimore to Indy), they take the team colors and history with them.

I actually went to the Football Hall of Fame in Canton during the time that Cleveland did not have a team. They had one exhibit with the histories of all the NFL teams on display, and they kept the Cleveland Browns history exhibit active in a corner.

As I understand it, there's a similar situation going on with the Seattle Sonics moving to Oklahoma City: while the new owner is taking the Sonics' NBA trophy , banners, and retired numbers with him, he is changing the team's colors in Okahoma city and promises to send back the trophy and "share" the team history with any new NBA franchise that Seattle gets....

Many childhood memories watching the '84 Tigers at that stadium!
