I'm quite sad about this. Tiger Stadium was one of the "great" stadiums, a place where the structure of the stadium was as much a "player" on the team as anyone in a uniform. It had character and style.
I was just in Seattle, and saw both the Mariners' and Seahawks' stadiums. They're beautiful machines, really, but they are also very similar to each other. And they're geared to giving people basically a "big screen" sports experience, instead of what I think of as "the real thing." More and more reason to prefer college and minor league sports. I'd much rather help out the local AA club, the Missions, because it's not only cheaper, but I can actually BE THERE while they play baseball. That makes a huge difference.
