I want to extract some songs from a DVD to play on my 3rd and 4th Gen iPods (non video).
The songs are on a bonus disc of The Life Aquatic and are some guy singing Bowie songs in Portugese.
Is there a way to do this without the video? as it is of no use to me on my current iPods.

Wiretap works, probably not too hi-fi, but maybe fine for David bowie in Portuguese.

I use mactheripper and use the demux setting and select only audio stream, then convert the AC3 audio file to Mp3 with mAC3dec. Works like a charm, just a little time consuming.

I did this same thing (well, not David Bowie in Portugese -- but a song from a DVD!) a couple years ago. I used Audio Hijack Pro -- think I downloaded a demo, and eventually purchased the software. It does a great job. There are free programs, however (I believe wiretap is free, but wouldn't swear to it.)

ffmpeg will extract the audio from any digital video file. convert to a file first with FTVX or Handbrake.
