I was looking over my Apple Order Status when I noticed that the iSight order was cancelled and replaced with a new one. It said

Item: ISIGHT-USA
Part #: M8817LL/A

Now it says

Item: ISIGHT MLTPK-USA
Part #: M9330LL/A

Anyone else notice this?

Sounds like a multipack. Maybe they're giving you 2 for the price of 1 now?

I'm pretty that is some sort of multipack. I'm still expecting another year or so out of my iSight being the "newest" thing for webcams.

Let us know if you get 2 for the price of 1. That would be cool.

I just purchased the isight this past weekend...but I have not opended it as yet... wondering if there any word on isight updates happening towards the end of the month?

Retailer won't take it back once opened... so I might just return it and buy it again after once i know for sure what will be happening to isight... ie just a firmware update or a new bundle or hardware enchancement... anybody heard any word ot idea?

cheers!

also, does anyone have experience using an isight with a 500mhz G3? The box says minimum 600mhz G3, but I want to get one for my dad who has an iMac 500mhz G3...

Yes & no..

Yes: But you need to pay for a hack/patch, available here http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/
No: Because performance will be absolutely crippled. Apple don't enforce a 600mhz G3 limit for the fun of it. iChat (And other VC apps) really need a 600mhz G3+ cpu to work well. It will be dog slow and beach balls on an all too frequent basis with anything less.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

I like the two for one deal or perhaps 2 for $179 (or some really good deal to make people get all charged up over it)

In iChat, right-click on the person's username and select "Invite to One-Way Video Chat."
