Fandango, et al. really crapped the bed last night, going by the nerd rage that was in my Twitter feed. How did they not expect this would crush all previous pre-sales, especially with seat reservations being a hot thing right now? BTW, unless you have an in, if you haven't already bought tickets, you probably won't be seeing this movie opening weekend.

Plenty of seats in St. Louis. All the big IMAX screens are sold out for Thursday and Friday, and a lot of the 7PM Thursday slots are full, but that's it.

Plus, I'm 100% sure that these presales are only going to cover some of the available showings. The theater by my house always has 5 or 6 screens showing big new releases, and they are only selling 3 screens for this pre-sale.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I don't see how I could possibly get time to take the kids until after halloween, so no rush here. Plenty of time to rewatch the others at least.

I simply assumed all the AMC Cinema Suites would be sold out already. I'll have to take a look now.

Back in the day, we waited outside under the sun for hours to get tickets - and we didn't have any fancy portable internet thing either.

I still remember getting in line at 4 or 5.15 for Batman 1989. And we were 3rd in line.

I'm reasonably certain that I'll be able to walk in a 4AM showing opening weekend. I've seen the rest in the theater, the first time around.

Not going to say that I slacked with E7.

They aren't going to win a lot of fans over if they go around killing off characters like Han and Chewie.

I'm sure it's also supposed to be a big shocker if it does happen, but in this new internet age, you know it's going to leak well before the general public sees the film... and be literally everywhere. The headline on CNN will probably be... HAN SOLO KILLED!

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Chewie I'll be surprised. Harrison Ford seems to be of "just kill him off" mentality so fans will stop begging him to come back. I feel like he felt that way about Indy. (And yet, rumors of a 6...)

Difference being, Ford has always said he wanted to do more Indy films. I'm shocked Disney was able to get him back at all for another go-round as Han Solo.

In regards to the theatrical poster... not a fan. Maybe I'm just upset that they didn't use Drew Struzan for the 'official' poster, but it just looks like a Photoshop barfapalooza. The D23 poster was much better IMO.

Also, pretty sure

Honestly, my problem with the poster is that they went with the overused orange/blue Hollywood color scheme.

Yes - it really puts into scale how big the engines are!
My favorite shot is the sunrise/set with TIE fighters coming out from it.

We are watching the other movies in Machete order. 4,5,2,3,6. Leaving 1 out entirely. 4 and 5 are as fun as I remember, but Empire is of course better. Everyone agreed stupid new Jabba scene was stupid. Next to wince through 2 and 3...

There's some bits I enjoyed from 1 (Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Padme, the little kid acted better then Hayden Christianson), but it was also a drag. So skipping it could be interesting.

So far the test subject who has never seen all the movies is enjoying them.

Machete order is stupid. I don't know why anyone thinks that's a good idea.

4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. Done.

EDIT: Yeah, it really is a stupid idea. The person who came up with it made up some horribly weak reasoning about why his order is a good idea. It's not. Read the comments.

Absolutely No Machete Juggling » The Star Wars Saga: Introducing Machete Order
You're going to have to point out the bad comments, because at a quick look, all of them were either "great idea" or "just watch the old movies". Not that I have ever had one of those marathons, but the main gain for me is that it removes the worst movie entirely and puts the two weakest in the middle. If you tell someone to watch all the movies in episode order, they will likely stop after the first because it is so terrible.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Episode order is just as stupid because it ruins the surprise in V. And yes, there were comments saying it's a bad idea.

Machete order assumes you know the surprise and you're just watching it for pure enjoyment, instead of watching them as released. I see no fun in that. It also makes you wait through two movies to deal with the cliffhanger in V.

Isn't this the best order?

I, II, III, IV, V, IV (except for the speeder bikes and the space fite).

I thought the beginning of VI was pretty awesome. (Luke fighting the rancor, golden bikini, Boba Fett's death, etc.) I say watch it up to the speeder bike scenes then fast forward to the space battle.

I rewathed IV a few weeks ago. The acting and dialogue is not much better than the sequels.

I had forgotten that Vader is referred to (and acts) subordinate to Tarkin. Any fans have an explanation for that?

Vader doesn't have a military role, aside from being the Emperor's bulldog. As the Jedi declined, so much to almost be myth, so did he. Hence why one officer smartmouthed him as being obselete as the Jedi. He got schooled, but you get the idea that not many of the soldiers know what Vader is.

IV does suffer from some bad acting, but at least no one goes rolling down a flower filled field when they should be, you know, being serious about the fate of the world, potential assassination, etc. Yes, we watched II last night. I did like the scenes that ObiWan was in, the clone/droid plot was interesting. Anakin was bearable in small doses/action scenes but I look forward to seeing the fan edit with most of the "romance/creepy stalking" cut out or improved. I fell asleep last time we watched and luckily missed most of it. Have no idea what Padme, formerly smart responsible queen, sees in this teenage psychopath. Also no idea why Anakin only sees fit to go rescue his mother 10 years late and then get all angsty about how he couldn't save her. Agh. Try visiting once in a while, dude. Send a card. Jedi's don't have phones? Tsk tsk.

Found the Hal9000 edits from an "alternative source." Will watch and report back.

Phantom Menace is the biggest disappointment since my son.

Red Letter Media Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace :

But you know Anankin going back for his mom always seemed a lame excuse to do some mass slaughtering (as a means to propel the character to the dark side)..... lame.

The negatives should be burned and/or digital archives zeroed out and the movie re-made properly.
