Hello MacNN forum:
I'm a newbie to this forum. Seems alot more helpful than phoning apple support (on hold forever...). I have a first generation imac G5, 1.6 ghz with 2 gigs of RAM. I've had the computer for just over a year and I use it for electronic music production. That being said, my processor speed is always set to the max. Recently, my imac has refused to wake up from sleep. Actually, ever since getting 10.4.7 OSX update, things have been funny. So, it goes to sleep just fine but to start the computer, I actually have to take out the extension/plug from its socket, put it back it, then press the button. I'm just wondering if anyone else had heard of this problem. Thanks everyone!!

I did some digging for you, and i think this might solve the issue. 'http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301733'

Opening the iMac G5 is really easy, give it a try, and then report.

Hello Nabilanwar:
Thanks for your reply!! Ironically enough, the article you found was the same one apple care forwarded to me! So, I did the SMU reset then the computer would not start. I left it overnight, things were fine but I had to call it in. They got me to erase some things from login in/accounts/system preferences and hopefully things will be fine. Kinda got me the incentive to sell off this imac and buy a tower or the macbook. need more cpu...Thanks again!!

found the answer to my problem. I bought this cheap usb hub from Logiix that was preventing my computer from waking up. can anyone recommend a reliable powered usb hub?
