hello all, i will be XTREMELY thankful to whoever can help..
so my problem is that i have installed after effects 5 , and is well.
but then when i launch the app. it quits on me and i get error type 1.

it then asks me to restart, which i have dont TOO many times.
but it doesnt solves the problem.

so how can i fix this ?
i have many app and they work with no problem of this sort.

any suggestions anyone ?
i have a tibook 500/ 384 / 20gb

You could try giving it more RAM in the finder (by selecting the app, typing apple-i for Get Info, selecting memory in the pull-down menu and increasing it) Try 100 MB to be sure whether or not this is the problem.

if that's not it, try disabling third party extensions and/or re-installing the app. To do this, open the Extensions Manager in the Control Panels folder, and select Mac OS All from the pull-down menu. Then close the Extensions Manager and restart (in OS 8.6 using the Extensions Manager's restart button didn't change the extensions after restart; I don't know if this is fixed now). Then install the app again.

This is all voodoo, so while you're at it you could 'zap the PRAM' and rebuild the desktop. Don't ask my how to do these because they never fixed anything for me

I've never used After Effects, nor do I know what it is

Zap the PRAM - Apple-Option-P-R at startup, then let go on the third chime.

Delete the Finder Preferences and System Preferences.

Up the memory allocation.

What OS are you running? If its 9.21 then thats probably the problem; go back to a decent version

The "Command" key is called the "Apple", or the "Key between the 'option' key and the 'spacebar'", or the key with the squiggly thing on it. What have you been exposed to trauma over this?

How many newbies will know the one with the APPLE symbol on it is the "Command" key? Tell me, please, what kind of logic would draw that conclusion?

Is the flower icon on the APPLE key one that denotes the word "command"? Maybe if, like the "control" or "option/alt" key, it had "command" or even "cmd" on it, that would work; but a lot of people do not know what the command key is.
