Disk First Aid is giving me a message: I've got an invalid PEOF. I was able to find a little information at apple.com's troubleshooting site -- the problem has to do with the way data is stored. Their advice is to reinstall the system software. I tried that, but I'm still getting the same message.

I gotten by this long without buying Norton Utilities. Is is time, or is there a better way?

Thanks, and happy holidays!

Disk Warrior tends to do a better job than NU with PEOF's (unexpected physical end of file error is what you have).
Personally, I just format the damn thing...

Agreed on DiskWarrior vs. NU. Reformatting is ok if you have your drive backed up completely. I wonde how many of us do!
