he's one of the few bright spots on the mariners ... if only shinjo (former giant) was as productive as ichiro ... or if only the giants get ichiro ... and a bunch of other good players ...
Bonds ... he's all we got =( ... or .. atleast it oft times seems that way

in the AL, Ichiro = best player this season.
A-Rod already won it last year on a shite team, so then the precendent is already set.
I like the way he goes about his business.

I had a chance to see Ichiro play a couple of years ago when the Mariners played the Red Sox and I must say, TV does not do justice to how fast that man is. Its unbelievable how fast he can run the bases.

Ichiro is a great slap ball hitter. He should bolt to a more competive team. Shame that is older than most with his time in the MLB because he came over after spending time in Japanese baseball. Hope he plays for along time to come.
On a side note: I was listening to some sport talk radio and they discussed that the various American ball players that have gone to Japan and have not been treated well when chasing a record. The homerun single season record has been challenged by various Americans and at the end of the season the Japanese simply don't pitch to them. I think people would yell bloody murder if we did that to Ichiro.

He's a great hitter. PERIOD.
Barry Bonds slaps the ball too.. just harder.
Think about how bad he would be if he tried to pull everything hard like Jason Giambi does. Don't put labels on him just because homers are all the rage now.

An excellent job by Ichiro.
He needs to steal more bases, though. He's fast as hell, and there' no reason that with 250+ hits, he couldn't steal more than 34 bases.
If he could double or triple that amount, he'd not only help his team score more runs by turning a good portion of his singles into (virtual) doubles... he'd also scare the crap out of opposing pitchers who would be spending more time holding him on base vs. paying attention to the current batters.
Hats off to Ichiro, though.

Yeah, I agree. As good as a hitter that Ichiro is, I would still take Henderson (in his prime) for his ability to get on base, steal, and score more than Ichiro...
