OS X 10.2.2
HP Deskjet 950
I had a student attempt to print the third page of a PDF file via selecting Print from page 3 to 3. Instead, page 1 would print out. I tried several times without success and then opened the PDF in Acrobat Reader (which printed successfully).
After printing the page out, the student then turned around and said, "Macs suck. Why doesn't this lab get some PCs?"
Is this a known issue with Preview? Has it been fixed in 10.2.4 (which I cannot update since I don't have admin privileges)?

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

I had something similar with an epson printing certain pages from a PDF. (in Preview)
I was trying to print pages 2-3 and got two copies of page 2.
I can't tell you whether it's better now - my printer has broken.

10.2.2 did have a few issues with printing... One that forced me to 'move back to 9' (ugh what a chore) one VIP at work was because 'colated printing' didn't work. Sure you could click on the checkbox but no matter what you did it would print 2 page 1's then 2 page 2's etc etc etc... I'm glad to see that was fixed... (with 10.2.3 I think)

Yes - it is a know problem with Preview.
No - it has not been fixed in 10.2.4.
Depending on which 'printer' you use to 'format' the page in Page Setup, Preview will get the page order wrong. Frequently it will 'print' a multi-page pdf in the order... 2->last page, then the first page. You can demonstrate this bug by 'previewing' multipage pdfs printed via Preview. Look at the Thumbnails. One reason some people say it doesn't happen for them is that this bug does not manifest itself IF you allow Preview to use the "Any Printer" in Page Setup.
BTW Preview also does _not_ print pdfs to the right scale:( It shrinks pdfs to fit within the margins defined by the printer in Page Setup. You can demonstrate this by recursively Print>Previewing the same pdf. It will eventually get as small as a postage stamp 80
