Is it possible to put a second optical drive in a B&W mac where the zip drive would normally go without modifications? If not, how hard is it to slip one in there? Anyone know?

It's absolutely impossible, even with modifications. If you put a bigger drive where the zip goes, you'd crush the processor. If you put it above the existing optical drive, you have to be careful not to crush the RAM.
