There is Hope. This is what muslims need to do...PROTEST. I wonder what would have happened if they marched to Al Sadr's office though?
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,131959,00.html
Meanwhile Friday, about 1,000 protesters marched through Najaf's old quarter Friday to demand that Muqtada al-Sadr (search) and his aides leave this holy city that has been ravaged by fighting between the radical cleric's followers and U.S. and Iraqi troops.
Chanting, "Muqtada, the trash, is a leader of looters," the demonstrators walked past buildings hit by three weeks of fighting and insisted that al-Sadr's office be shut down. Iraqi soldiers kept the protesters from marching to al-Sadr's office.

Good to hear. See folks, this is what protesting is about.
Not the pretentious silliness that went on in NY.

What's funny, this will get zero attention because it doesn't focus on the negative! I can start a silly thread about WWIII and get some great knee jerker responses...but as soon as something positive is posted...a certain faction falls silent.

dc it's sad when people want to see a nation fail just out of spiteful hatred.
I've never met so many petty/spiteful people in my life, than in this forum.

I must agree as well. No one I have ever spoken with in person would ever want something bad to happen to the US. Is there some sign on the net that says Macnn is the anti-US hang out place?

Wow, strange, I don't see any of the usual suspects commenting on this thread. I wonder why ?
Oh, wait, these are peaceful, good Iraqis, they're more busy whining about some BAD EVIL Iraqis who happened to die.

You guys are developing an admirable persecution complex. I blame Bush for that as well!
Zimphire, I'm assuming you gave that linked organization a good scrutinizin' prior to sending your money. If not, can I interest you in my Hudson River Manatee charitable foundation? We're fund raising to reintroduce the lovable but oh-so endangered critter to New York City's harbor.
Oh, and regarding the protests; I think you're applauding up the wrong tree. The protests were aimed at ridding a sacred mosque of warring parties. They weren't protesting the insurgents' cause, just the venue. No flower petals here!

No, not just LEAVE the mosque, but LEAVE THE CITY. They don't want them there. They are sick of their shenanigans. They are taking up for themselves.

They are f*cking lucky they didn't get blasted by American helicopter gunships.
I didn't follow the link...it's fox news for f*cks sake.
If you are advocating Iraqis go out on the street and demonstrate and risk getting strafed or bombed by gunships I suggest you go for a midnight stroll thru Harlem with a t-shirt that says 'I HATE NIGGERS!"...you'd be a lot safer.

What message would that be ? That you like to curse, you use the F-word a few times in your posts, you also like the N word, and you didn't bother to read the link ?

There are 25 000 000 people living in Iraq.
1000 manifested on the street.
So wtf?
that is 0.0004% of the population...
hardly significant....

How many muslims have protested against terrorism in the world ?
0.000000000001 % ?
That's if we use your logic.

See, I am not using my logic.
I am using your logic, the same used when there were so many people manifesting in New York...
But Pachead, I don't believe you can get irony yet. Because this thing goes much deeper than it appears. See, it is like the Titanic.
You have this big boat that is said to be unsinkable.
The you have the Ice cube coming in harms way.
And then no more Titanic, barely any survivors.
But the icicle floats away with a smear of paint...

Yeah, it's kind of difficult to really come up with a hard number for the number of insurgents. The top estimates are around 20,000 or so, but one must remember that being an "insurgent" isn't necessarily a full-time job. The core number of insurgents, i.e. those who spend most of their time planning anti-US operations, is probably somewhere around 5-10 thousand, but if they need to get something in motion, they can whip up support from others when need be. It is a small number compared to the Iraqi population, but it's more significant when compared to the number of US soldiers in the country.
