Hey guys and gals,
just a question that has been plaguing me for some time now, but what does all this
64-bit, 128-bit ect. in regards to Game consoles mean?
I have been trying' to nut this one out and i can't work it out!, is it just a classy name to make it sound cooler?
thanks all for the answers

Essentially it's a boredom designator:
8 bits = simplest graphics / fantastic games
16 bits = simple graphics / great games
32 bits = ok graphics / ok games
64 bits = great graphics / simple and boring games
128 bits = fantastic graphics / braindead and utterly boring games
euh, yes. I am a MacMAME fanatic. why? does it show?

These people are Americans. Don't expect anything meaningful or... uh... normalcy...

I'd LOVE to see a video game with fantastic 3D graphics that's NOT a "if it moves, shoot it" type game.
NOTE: The Sims doesn't count because it's not really the type of game I mean.

It refers to type of processor the console uses. How hard was that?

It refers to the GPU specifically, then. Either way, the point is almost true -- except when you think about it, a lot of the 8 bit games were "run around and jump on things to kill them" -- but it was fun.
Right now I'm trying to beat Mario 64 -- it's a harrd game. I still need to beat OoT (yeah, caught onto n64 stuff late), and am halfway along in Zelda WW... yeah
You find exceptions to the rule. I like a lot of the modern games but some people limit their horizons to the "manly" shoot-em-ups like halo, half life, doom, etc. These games have been boring and silly since day 1

Did you know mario64 is the #2 highest selling game of all time? #1 being Vice city. Also did you hear that mario64 is going to come out on the nintedo gameboy DS??
