Yeah it's a bit different back then, but people today (including banks) still understand and accept such denotation.
Yeah, of course they'd be understood and all... I've just never seen anyone "mix them up" like that before... in fact, I don't think I've ever seen anyone write 块 or 毛 before (except in direct/indirect speech etc.)

I moved.. so my setup has completely changed.
The optical drives on the side didn't mean I never put CDs/DVDs into my G4.
I did it coz the space limitation.

was there enough space to open the drive? a little hard to tell from the picture, but if not, it would have made more sense to have the computer facing right.

No, I don't! I have a chair in front of that and a small table on the right for the mouse and I don't use the keyboard very often, it's usually on my knees - that setup is mostly just for fun and not for work!

Wouldn't it be more logical to have the chair on the other side of the table, so you could actually see what's on the screens when sitting in it?

What do you mean? The point was to have desk space to spread out when I'm working. My old desk was too small.
I'd actually like more space, but the shape of the room didn't allow it.

I was wondering... did you guess that based on the mouse being on the left side of the computer?
'Cause I'm a lefty too, but still have my mouse on the right. My stepmom, on the other hand, is right-handed, but has her mouse on the left... Is there really that much of a connection between the two?

I think there is a correlation to this extent. Lefties are more dextrous with their dexter hand, and therefore sometimes are comfortable doing things the righty way. Righties seem to be much less correspondingly dextrous with their sinister, and so never seem to do things the lefty way. So having the mouse on the right wouldn't necessarily mean the user is right handed, but only a lefty would have one on the left.
Of course, there is always an exception. I was helping a right hander with his computer the other day only to find he prefers his mouse buttons reversed. It confused the heck out of me.

Cool, I see you went with the Apple LCD in the end. Have you found the visible height to be sufficient compared to your old one? I'm thinking about upgrading to the 20" from my current 17" (old-style) LCD, but am worried about the reduced vertical viewing space.
Apparently there is going to some kind of implementation of aspect-switching in Tiger, I might wait and see if that happens.
edit: my set-up:
G5 2.0dp 1.5gb RAM 9800 Pro SE 256mb (Apple happily replaced my 1.8dp with this 2nd generation beauty when it developed the 'random-freeze' sickness! )
Macally wireless RF mouse
5GB 1st gen iPod
Apple 17" LCD
JBL Creature speakers
Lacie 80GB Firewire hard drive
Canon Lide30 scanner
Canon i965 printer
AE Basestation
M-Audio Audiophile USB audio/MIDI interface
Pioneer MJ-D707 Minidisc recorder
15" PB 1.5ghz 1gb RAM 9700 mobility 128mb
12" PB 867mhz 640mb RAM

Did you see this thread? It's how I came to get the Apple. I think I had quite a close brush with disaster.
4:3 is still probably better for what I do, but yes, the vertical height is sufficient. I can view a standard US letter size document at 125% and not lose anything other than part of the gutter of the document, which you can't write on anyway. I don't know if you could use the same magnification with A4.
In general, I am very pleased with the screen and I think widescreen is growing on me. It is very nice to look at, much sharper appearing than my old CRT. It's nice to get the monsterous 21" display off my desk too! Oh yes, and I have no dead pixels.
BTW, don't you worry that the laptop on the right is kind of teetering on the edge?

ha ha, well I don't usually sit there with them all set up like that! Plus, the 12" PB is the wife's, hence is already beaten to hell. She has quite a physical relationship with her technology, it doesn't tend to last long.
I think I'll go for the 20", the ability to switch to portrait mode will swing it. Disturbing experience with Formac, at a glance their stuff is very enticing.
I'm pretty concerned about dead pixels. Maybe even enough to buy second-hand so I can check the screen first.
I can't seem to find anything on Apple's site (when going through the buying process for an LCD) stating that dead pixels are non-exchangable, which surely they should do if it's a technical fault that they don't accept responsibilty for. I'm wondering if it's actually challengable under UK consumer regs. Surely someone must have tried.
