The Google Nexus 5 smartphone has quietly received some slight changes to its construction, apparently in order to fix customer complaints. Changes relating to the way the buttons feel, speaker and microphone grills and the SIM tray have all appeared, all without comment from either Google itself or manufacturing partner LG.

Images on the XDA-Developers forum comparing the first-generation of the device and the latest version appear to show marginally larger holes at the base, which could allow for better airflow and a louder sound from speakers. The volume and power buttons also seem to be firmer, or at least not as loose as the original. The SIM tray is said to no longer protrude as much, and the display frame is also claimed to have been tweaked, though there are apparently units of the new model shipping with a warmer display that also has a few stuck green pixels.

Launched in October, the Nexus 5 has a 4.95-inch Full HD IPS display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB and 32GB storage options. Running on Android KitKat, it has an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, a front-facing 1.3MP version, Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and LTE connectivity, and a 2,300mAh battery. The 32GB model sells for $399, while the 16GB version sells for $349.

Dear Wrenchy,

Sooo good to hear from you, the best sock-puppet maste ever!

Have to say this place has gotten a lot less interesting since the admins took away the voting (down voting in our case!). Sure miss that feature, and I suppose the Advertisers miss it too!

May the Christmas season be full of good things for you and your loved ones, and Santa as well as The Three Kings, bring you all sorts of cool electronics products from all companies but Apple, well not really; may you get one iCrap device (preferably in some free offer...) just so that you can do all sorts of nasty things to it, and tell our iFriends about it!
