Id say the 100$ premium Apple would charge would push this too far out of the iPod's market. 699$ just isn't happening.

Its 10:33 am. Either I am disapproving of this or jealous. Not sure which.

10.33 am where you live.
No video iPods, yet. Not without fears of piracy.
I dunno about an 80. I have a 60B and it seems plenty big (about 5 free GB after all my music, my photos and my hard drive backed up (and made bootable via CCC).

Don't. You can't tell the difference on the buds, and I've also had some problems listening to Led Zep on ALC. If iTunes would be have 2 libraries, 1 for iPod, and the other for iTunes, this wouldn't be a problem.
We're not going to have a 80GB iPod for MacWorld. Ever.

People said that about the 10-Gig, then the 20-Gig, 30-gig, 40-Gig, and last about the 60-Gig models. I'm sure we will see an 80GB "iPod something" in fall.
For one thing, the iPod is not just about mobile music; it's a portable hard drive.
For another, you CAN tell the difference between Lossless and mp3 at home or when hooking the iPod up to a stereo. I know I'm waiting for the 80GB model before replacing my 1st-gen 5GB.

Get decent headphones. Koss Porta Pro, for example, make all the difference.

You know, I'm waiting for a set top box by Apple that uses iPods to carry around AVC files between them THEN there will be a reason for an 80 gig iPod.
