Has anyone installed the new larger and faster Seagate 2.5" drives in their PB? I'd like to know what ppl think of them?

There's two shops in BC alreadying carrying the 100gb - $239 and 120gb - $329 drives. Both are 5400rpm

While the 100gb 7200rpm is going for $381.

I'm itching to get it, but would like to read some real world usage before I buy.

That's from quite awhile ago.

I'm just asking if ppl have tried the newer larger and faster drives. More specifically, the 100gb 7200rpm Seagate drive.

f1000, that's about the 5400rpm drive--I'm asking about the 7200rpm one.

Anyone have new information?

I have the Seagate 100 gig 5400 RPM in my powerbook (a replacement for the original 80 gig 4200 RPM drive that died).

The Seagate drive has been great and faster than I was expecting, clocking ~50 megs per second read/write to and from my external FW800 OWC 7200 RPM drive.

The extra 20 gigs is great, and the drive has a five year warranty. Save $$$ and get this drive. IMHO

For what its worth, CompUSA has the 100GB 5400RPM for $199. now on sale for $189. and also a $30. mail in rebate til 8-6, making it $159. I picked one up yesterday, but haven't had time to install. I couldn't pass up this deal.
