i've got an old G3/233 desktop (beige).

when i turn it on and my Powerbook is on, too, the G3 remembers correctly that my AppleTalk-connection is "ethernet".

but when the Powerbook is not powered on (i.e. there is nothing on the end of the ethernet cable) the G3 automatically sets the AppleTalk connection to the printer port.

very annoying.
is there a workaround?

thanks, anna
(btw. my OS is german 8.6)
