This is great timing, getting a new car this week. After I actually have the car, will post information. The car was meant to be for us. On our local PBS station WGBH, just had their 37th annual auction. We bid on a Volvo, and won. It was so exciting!

Because parking is almost impossible in my neighborhood and a parking space is $300 a month, I choose the alternatives:

Nice Z. You got one of the ones before GM ruined them. (The new ones look horrible) I've always liked the Z24.

I'm still driving the same car that I bought 16 years ago. It's a 1987 Toyota Tercel 2-door hatchback with a 4-speed manual transmission. Now just over 235,000 miles with the original engine (no rebuilds) and it still gets over 30mpg city and 40mpg highway.
It's been a great car and it still has years of life left in it. It still looks good too!

Thanks Zimphire, I've had it since it was new and its been trouble free and fun to drive. I Agree since the 2001's GM has been adding more and more ground effects, the 2003's have a new front end that looks like a$$. In addition to that the only engine you can get in the new ones is the 2.2L 140hp engine. I like your ride too, is it an R/T? I had a black 1995 neon sport, it was fun to drive, but had lots of quality control issues.

Let's keep this thread going! I'd like to see what our Asian, European, and Icelandic memb ers use for basic transportion.

Yeah that pointed front end looks horrible. I don't know what they was thinking.

Yup it's a 99 R/T 150HP DOHC 5sp. My particular R/T weighs 2470lbs. The Z24 and it are about the same when it comes to performance. I like small 4bangers that aren't underpowered.

I had a black 1995 neon sport, it was fun to drive, but had lots of quality control issues.
The 95s were the first year. And yes, they had some problems with them. By 98 most of the problems had been taken care of. The best year to get a 1st gen Neon is 98-99 IMHO.

Here's mine:

Its a September 2002 Seat Leon. I used to have a bright blue one of these but changed recently for this one.

Unfortuantely it isn't one of the splendidly quick Cupra models - need to save up more cash for one of those!

You are lucky it lasted that long, Dr. Wahnsinn. My wife had a 1987 Tercel Wagon, the engine blew on it in 1998 with less than 50,000 miles!

Truer words were never spoken.

Here's mine.

A 1996 V6 Holden Commodore Executive station wagon. The only identifying features are the kid seats and the dirt.

It's a real chick magnet.

Excuse the crap photos but it's not really exciting enough to warrant moving it for the camera, is it?

Nope it's black. The 98-99 R/Ts only came in White, Black, Red and Blue.

Bought a new 2003 Subaru Forester XS this month ... took it on a weeklong trip up in northern Minnesota, just got back last night. So far it's been a great car.
