Several days ago, I suddenly started seeing brackets ( like [ and ] ) in place of the letter "g" and the letter "h", but only in my web browsers, and only in some web sites (Ars Technica is one of them). It's the same in Omniweb & Safari and makes reading pages very difficult, as you can imagine. It doesn't affect any other program and not all web sites are affected.

Right now, I'm not seeing the bracket problem on this site, but it's a real problem on some . I've tried running Virix to be sure I didn't have a virus, and also checked the International & the Keyboard control panels to see if anything was amiss. I'm baffled. I'm trying to remember what software I might have installed lately, but can't think of anything right now.

Has anyone else seen or heard of this problem?

Thanks,
Pat

Got it fixed!

I reinstalled the 10.2.6 update and found that the problem had gotten worse, but changed. Entire web pages were in a symbol font that I had loaded several days ago (and forgotten), and that was my clue. The fonts are corrupt, I guess. Once I pulled out the offending fonts from the library, everything returned to normal.
