i picked up a d-link DWL-G122 wireless USB adaptor for an older ibook this afternoon. i'm trying to share my desktop machine's internet connection with the ibook. it works when connecting without any encryption, but i can't seem to get the d-link adaptor to connect with WEP. this page suggests switching to WPA encryption by opening the airport admin utility and configuring the base station, but how can i do that without an airport base station? any suggestions?

okay, i seem to have WEP working now, but only in ad hoc mode. i still can't get my imac to share its internet connection with WEP enabled. sharing works fine without WEP, but i can't get both working at the same time. any ideas?
