Actually it's not that good of a deal. This baby is selling for $1700-1800ish on eBay...

Really? A quad? I could see maybe a dualie 2.5GHz but not a Quad.

the problem is the Mac Pro's pricing. Essentially, you're getting a quad brand new (and a faster, intel quad xeon, at that) for $2500, so the old quad G5s are tough sales.. since they are slower than the Mac Pro, but cost loads more when they were bought new.

Uh... No.
Quad G5s are still selling for $2500+ on eBay. You must be thinking of Dual 2.5s.

Touche, I must be thinking of the Duals...although I thought even the quads were at like $2200-2300? Maybe I'm mistaken...

Actually, the "slower" part is only true for programs that have been converted to native for Intel processors. Programs like Photoshop are still faster on a G5.

Very true. For a few months you have the edge.

I recently sold Dual 2.7 4GB 800GB HD for $2400 on eBay. Not a bad asking price for Quad.
