Is it good news that Microsoft is going the Firewire route rather than Intel's USB2.0 route? It does of course remain to be seen which way the (PC) motherboard manufacturers go. Personally, I wasn't looking forward to a third new form of connectivity in as many years!

hopefully, this will have as only effects a decrease in price of our much-loved FW peripherals, and greater availability. and for people using pcs and macs, maybe avoiding a potential great inconvenience.
maybe the only effect will be that we will be left wondering what effect m$ fully embracing usb2 and not fw would have had.
