I searched the OS X forum for "sort by xxxxx", (both with quotes and without) by all I got were results that had any of the words and not the specific phrase (feel free to excoriate my search skills if it IS there.

How can you get OS X (I use the latest updated version of Tiger) to sort by file name or file type in the Finder? I hate alphabetical listing.

In List view, click the column headers. In Column view, I don't think it's possible.
