Just had my machine fixed by Apple. When I boot up my existing Aperture 3.0 application, it is asking for my original packaging serial number. I do not have this. Does anyone have any ideas how I can retrieve my program without this serial number???? I have the Aperture update I purchased last year but this serial number does not do the trick...it needs to be the original one form my version 2.0.

I'd get the receipt for Aperture 2 and call Apple/walk into the Apple Store.

If you sold the original box of 2.0, you no longer have a valid upgrade license.

The same applies if you threw it out. If this is the case, contact Apple support.

Thanks. Never sold the original package. Just misplaced. The new versions have the serial numbers on the instruction manual. Receipt for original Aperture long gone. Bought at Apple store but they have no record of it, nor do I. May have to purchase the program again. Lesson learned.Thanks.

Wait … if you take out the CDs/DVDs, instruction manuals, and various blipblops, and then proceed to throw out the cardbox box it came in, you’re throwing out your valid copy of the app?! They didn’t put the SN on anything but the one part of the package most people would tend to get rid of because it takes up too much space?

That’s pretty insane.

Yes that's right. The serial number is on the packaging.

Did you buy it with a credit card? Do you know the approximate date when you purchased it?
