Motherboard battery recently died in my ClassicII. Put in new battery. Machine totally DEAD, no bong, no screen, just the vain whirring of the HD.

Here's the interesting bit - Apple manual and old Que's Little Mac Book Vol.1. says battery is soldered to board. It wasn't, it was in a holder with plus and minus markings molded into it.

After tearing hair out for about three hours, put new battery in what appears to be wrong way round, everything now fine! Holder wrong way on board! (No, I never noticed which way the original battery was before I removed it!)

Moral: Well there's two or three in this story.
Anybody else have similar experience?
