I have some kind of mental issue where when I see Telly Savalas I have to say "Who loves you, baby?" So he was less Blofeld and more Blojack.

I love the James Bond movies. And Turtle is right, you really have to watch them all to get a gauge on which Bond is "best". A lot of people would disagree with my but one of my favorites is Moonraker. It's hard for me to rank each actor as bond because they all have their certain characteristics that I like BUT I can say for sure that OHMSS with George Lazenby was/is by far the worst in the Bond series. I'm interested to see where they are going with the current series. Make sure you watch Casion Royale before Quantum of Solace because unlike the older Bonds they are making these newer ones a continuing series.

I'm curious to here your opinions since you haven't watched any. Enjoy.

Really not understanding why the hate for that movie. He had big ears, but other than that he was fine, and the set and stunts were ****ing awesome.

He just seemed like a misfit and obviously the directors/public/producers realized this because he was in one film.

The producers offered him a contract for 7 films.

His manager convinced him to do a one-off, because he figured that the macho Bond figure would be out of style in the 70s.

Which he was - hence the silly Moore Bond.

For theme song, Live and Let Die is by far the winner. Plus a great plot.

My faves (not in order, honestly would take too long to):
- The Living Daylights (IMO, only good Dalton bond)
- View to a Kill (Walken, 'nuff said)
- Goldfinger (great flick)
- OHMSS (underrated, great ending)
- Goldeneye (other Brosnen ones got way too cheesy, but have to admit I loved John Cleese in the later ones)
- Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace (I consider these one film due to how similar they are and how close the plots are, though CR was better than QoS)

The other ones are all pretty good too, especially Octopussy and Dr. No, as well as Moonraker for it's over-the-top-ness. I mean, James Bond with a LASER GUN? Who'd complain?

I appreciate the grittiness of the new movies, but it makes it a bit boring, all the angst. I fell asleep watching them.

I liked Lazenby too, and Rigg.

Moore was too cheezy, but entertaining at the time. I love Brosnan but agree the plots of his movies got over the top, I did not like the female leads except the chick on the motorcycle. Dalton fit the role but the movies seemed light as a feather and not memorable.

In the earliest films, Connery actually had a .25ACP Beretta-as Flemming had intended Bond to have. It's such a tiny pistol that it didn't film well. The picture of Connery above is with some different pistol I can't quite make out, not the Beretta or the PPK.

Craig's Bond isn't as "advanced" as the others were supposed to be, so he uses an issued pistol in 9mm (rather than .380 as in the PPK). With a suppressor. Of course he was pretty nasty with hands and knives in Solace, so he might just be as likely to pummel the bad guy to death with the wrong end of the gun.

It's an air pistol, the Walther LP53, used for the promotional photo shoot only. The long barrel was supposed to be airbrushed out, as I recall, but never was for some reason.

The story goes something like this - the Walther PPK was unavailable for the photo shoot, so the photographer supplied his own air pistol (the Walther LP53 .177 cal single shot) for the pics.

I like Moore, but maybe that's because I prefer the overly cheeky sexual bravado side of Bond. The one that makes a quick pun as he kills the henchman and then bangs a few chicks.

Goldeneye was the last good Bond IMO. The current Bonds are big blockbuster action movies, which are far removed from the globe-trotting, spying, gadget using Bond movies I love. A good Bond needs to be low-key, it's a movie about espionage, about a man so highly skilled he doesn't need to fly a helicopter through the roof of the building to gain access. He'll instead pose as an employee and get the keycard from a hot babe that happens to work there, he then bangs the babe.
