I think that maybe my humor is like good art, or champagne, or both: appreciated at its fullest once I'm gone. I'm ahead of my time.

So, if you want me to be funny to you I guess somebody will have to kill me.

In the meantime, I will continue to do what I do like bees buzz, like bears hibernate, and like birds fly. It's the way of nature, and I will not have Abe upstage me.

This thread feels like its slowly grinding to halt.

Not that I think the mods will let it die naturally.

Has a 10+ page thread ever died naturally?

We had a smaller group of people, but everybody spent more time in there responses, and you could actually have a pretty intellectual debate about damn near anything in here. This was before +1s and "I'd hit it", this was when posts were generally at least a few sentences, but more often than not a paragraph or two, sometimes even longer.

Then... the stupidity became rampant, and the lounge was filled with political trolls, starting threads on fire only to push their viewpoints upon everyone else, and I fought hard for the creation of a political lounge. I was even banned for the gonzo balls out method in which I used to prove my point that we needed one. However, the seperation of anything political/religious into a seperate forum has had some unexpected side effects. Now, it seems, the lounge is slowly dying, with less than a page of new threads/responses per day, most of which being links to other websites, movie clips, etc. Basically, we're starting to lack content, and of that content, it's lacking MacNN original content. Also, any shred of political/philosophical/religious debate gets thrown into the PL, which is filled with trolls, so most rational people avoid that place entirely, leaving the lounge to discuss whatever is left over. For a while, we discussed movies and videogames and cars, but now any videogame topic gets moved into the 'mac gaming' forum, which is usually about as exciting as a senior citizen's knitting party. Recently, other people have been calling for the creation of a 'car forum', so all the gearheads can discuss cars without 'bothering' people in the lounge.

At what point will this organization stop? The lounge used to be intersting and intelligent until it became filled with stupid people. Then it was still entertaining, but on a much lower level of intelligence. Then, it became too heated and political, so those portions were removed, so it became more of an easy going silly place for light hearted topics, and then even videogames were removed from it's available topics.

What is the future of the lounge? I don't think it looks good, and if the posts/threads created per day are any indication, I'm afraid the lounge won't be worth visiting at all. What would MacNN be like WITHOUT a lounge? Would it improve the other forums, and give them a little more 'life' and 'personality'? Would perhaps they be checked more frequently, solving people's problems faster since they usually involve some sort of technical aspect? Would YOU still visit MacNN if the lounge ceased to exist? And do you think that we should start removing some of the other forums (such as gaming, the political lounge, and mac modification) to create a more diverse atmosphere here?

Peace,

- Ca$h
Is this a new MacNN record?

Oh I've seen more Rob nicks banned in a single thread. Why should he be banned? He doesn't do anything wrong. Everyone attacks him!\

IT'S JUST NOT FAIR!

But joking aside, I do pine/pray for the day Rob is able to communicate with a large group of people without throwing a tantrum.

Yes Mastrap, it's me that can't let it go.

You're spot on there.

Rob knows what I am talking about. Me and him used to talk all the time on AIM. Till he found out I was a Christian. I knew rob even Before MacNN on the neon boards (he is banned there too).

I before you was the great almighty Cash defender.

Still to this day I wish him well. But don't confuse the situation. He is the one that is causing the problems. Not me.

BTW I am still a Cash defender. Esp when he deserves it. He was on a real good streak there for awhile. I had high hopes.

Then once he got comfortable the "real" Rob came out.

The issues rob has we cannot help him with. And he wont get help for until he admits he has a problem.

When I was doing what you are doing now to rob, I realized I was just encouraging his behavior. By yelling at the other person he felt vindicated. Even if it only was one person taking up for him.

Rob isn't you usual normal troll. It goes beyond that. I think we both know this.

Nope, not without a few more posts, a few more essays, the last word, and a full self-defense. It is important that we all think that he is right, or at least not in the wrong... His own self-confidence is not sufficient.

Oh, and of course this post will be followed up with a detailed explanation as to why I'm a hypocrite and everything I've said applies to me too, a few laughing smilies, you know, the standard treatment...

How much do you want to bet he won't simply ignore my post?

You just successfully explained yourself.

"You know the man you hate? You look like him everday!"
"HiDi Hos Two good shoes wont save your soul!"
Oh, and of course this post will be followed up with a detailed explanation as to why I'm a hypocrite and everything I've said applies to me too, a few laughing smilies, you know, the standard treatment...
Oh I gave you something a bit different. But at least you are seeing a pattern here besson.
How much do you want to bet he won't simply ignore my post?
I told you many times how to get me to quit responding to your siliness. Yet you still haven't signed on. (still in my sig)

Why? Is it cause you really don't dislike me that much, or is it that you can't stop belittling others?

If it's the latter, we can try to help.

Like clockwork!

We can always count on Zimphire's insecurities and/or self-righteousness, whichever applies more.

I'm disappointed that it took him a full 22 minutes to respond though.

And people wonder why I use the word "projection" a lot in here.
I have said in here many times. I am no better or worse than any other person in this forum.

We are all in the same boat. So your accusation simply don't jive with the facts.

If I was insecure, I surely wouldn't be profession my faith in THIS forum.
I'm disappointed that it took him a full 22 minutes to respond though.
What does time have to do with anything besson? Are you going to make fun of my post count next? Maybe I should change my name to something like "eggbert" so you can make fun of that too.

I think it's pretty obvious as to which of two reasons I gave in my last post as to why you wont "sign" now.

I don't hate you besson. I just wish you'd be a little nicer to people. And less hateful.

Is that really a lot to ask? I don't think so.

This post you just made is an example. But whenever I bring such actions from you up, you act as if I am making them up. Or exaggerating. An ad-hominem if you will.

All I ask it to cut out the belittling. You'll never hear from me again. Deal?

Person 1. I Hate billy. So I put him on ignore
Person 2. Lets find something to eat
Person 1. Billy really gets on my nerves
Person 2. I found some bologna
Person 1. You know what I heard billy do the other day?
Person 2. What about billy?
Person 1. OH great, I've been trying to ignore billy all day and now you've made this whole conversation about him! Thanks.

I love it when people

A. Have me on ignore but can't stop talking about me anyhow.
B. Have me on ignore but can't stop talking about me anyhow. Then complain that a thread turned out to be about "me" because they can't stop talking about me.

You'd think they would put two and two together. *shakes head*

In other words, if those that claimed to have me on ignore stopped talking about me, things like this wouldn't happen.

What is the sense of continually talking about someone you claim to have on ignore?

That's like a passive/aggressive weird thing going on there.

Interesting political thing at the last UK GE.

The Conservatives didn't mention immigration. Specifically went out of their way not to mention it, in fact. The press kept on hounding them with questions about immigration. One of the Conservatives broke down and said, in reply to one of these questions, that immigration was a bit out of control and they'd look at it. Within the next week all of the press were running stories about how the Conservatives keep going on about immigration.

True that.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.
That's where there's thunder... and the wind shouts back.
