Don't you have to spend something like 150 Gs a year to get the card—and only then, you have to be invited? It does look pretty nice, though. A metal card. Hmmmph.
Oh, right, and what the organ guy said.

Yeah and I think the annual fee is $2000 or so

Oh, sure, let me pull that right out of my rich ass for a metal card that is nothing more than a financial status symbol. I would never pay $2000 a year for that, no matter how loaded I was. Is the thing a charge card or a credit card anyway?

I've heard Titanium makes for a good computer. Again, this is only a rumor.

In 1999 American Express announced the introduction of its Centurionâ„¢ card. Available only by invitation to selected Platinum card members, this black credit card promises to simplify the lives of the harried rich. In exchange for its hefty annual fee (initially $1,000 US, but now $2,500), cardholders receive automatic upgrades on fifteen of the world's leading airlines. They also receive assistance in securing hard-to-come-by tickets for popular events, reservations at trendy restaurants, and shopping for Christmas gifts. Someone from the service will even call to remind cardholders of upcoming anniversaries. It is akin to having a personal concierge always on call.
Well, perhaps if I were loaded enough....

they're rare, but not that uncommon around here. I've probably seen close to a dozen of them by now. They're already pretty nice... the edge is beveled and smoothed so the black continues all the way around, you don't see any of the white card plastic on the edge. The titanium ones must be pretty nice. There's also the Visa Signature cards, which are also black, though I'm sure they're not nearly as exclusive.

I was in line behind a guy using that card just last night at a Ralphs grocery store. What a bastard. Was too lazy to take out his Ralphs membership card. Told the cashier 3 different phone numbers and then ask him to check what number is registered to his Ralphs membership card. Had to wait 10 mins for this guy while the cashier check with the manager, while other lines were streaming through 4-5 customers. He finally decides to take his Ralphs card out. I already loaded my stuff on the counter, so it was too troublesome to go to another register.

No, they took his card. He was just too lazy to take out his Ralph's membership card to get discounts on his food items. Mostly wine glasses and wine.

The problem is that he's just the sort of guy that has one of those cards. In the table-waiting business, we like to say that a black Amex card will lead to a SOLID 15% tip (which isn't a very gracious tip in my area.) There's a reason these guys are wealthy.. they keep their money in their pocket.
And you can buy much more than a car on one of these cards. Depending on your situation with Amex, you could make very high dollar purchases with a blackie.

Well, if you have this kind of card, buying a car won't even itch your left butt cheek. They also offer pretty exclusive 24 hour-service. You can `order' stuff and they get it for you (like some extravagant trips or so).

yeah, they have a BlackCardClub.com site and a bulletin board/forum thats interesting. You have to register now, but its a fun read...whats the most you've ever spent in one transaction polls, that sort of thing. Really the vast majority of these guys are your basic business owner types, people who actually work.
http://blackcardclub.proboards45.com
of course, others are not. It is, generally, a bad idea to leave behind your purse with your license, a tightly rolled $20 and a $1 with a baggie of coke folded up inside. However, its the smiley face sticker that really makes it for me.

I can think of better things to do with $2,000. My current American Express works very well. No annual fee and 2% refund on purchases.
