Is there a way to convert mp3 files so that they can be burned onto a cd that will play in a regular cd player? What app. do I need to do this?

yes, but I believe the question was how to *convert* mp3s.
You can use Sound Edit, as well as SoundJam I believe to convert mp3 to AIFF format so that the CD will play in a normal CD player

Like Belacqua said, Toast can burn MP3's right to a CD in regular audio format. At least it's supposed to, as you see in my other thread, it doesn't seem to be working all that great for me.

Toast can burn audio CDs using mp3s, However, like I008com mentioned, i've never had it work correctly.
Use Sound Jam, Quicktime, or your choice app to convert to aif and the make sure you select audio CD in toast and you will be fine. Make sure you don't copy a folder as it will change your selection from audio CD to a data CD. Just copy the actual sound files.
Sound Jam can convert to aif at 8-10x using a 300MHz G3 so it doesn't take long to convert and is worth it to save hassle of trying to record directly from mp3 files.
