Ohhh, reminds me of the good old days...
I was surfing the so called World Wide Web with NTSCA Mosaic but did rather prefer to stay inside eWorld (I want it back damnit!) and nobody had ever heard of Google...........

I used Yahoo! Search until mid to late '99 at which point I started to use Google exclusively. At that time, Google gave better results and the layout was superior in many ways, so switching made sense. Theyd have to make some crazy and revolutionary technology/service for me to switch back, given that Im so used to using Google now.

I remember being in the first proper 'cybercafe' in London (Cyberia) and a guy mentioned this site:

http://akebono.stanford.edu

A total quantum leap in browsing, just like google - I used to try and remember all my urls before then! - Try doing that now

And my father used to beat me to death after a supper of cold poison - and wake us up four hours before we went to sleep.

Try telling that to the youth of today - and they won't believe you.

Let's see, I was 9 years old when I first used the internet.

I remember it exactly. These 12 year old (ooo they were so old and cool at the time) were on the Mac LCs in the school library and were surfing the web, and I remember in particular one kid carefully typed in http://www.yahoo.com

And the site took like..a minute to load. So cool.

So the very first time I used the internet it was Yahoo.com

Now I hardly ever use that site, well until recently. I use My Yahoo! a lot. It's really useful. I can see the weather forecast for every single college town I've applied to in one neat little table so I can compare. Plus I have the news I want in one page, ie. BBC news, Reuters World news, AP politics, and whatever RSS feeds you want.

But I use Google exclusively. Sometimes I'll use the Yahoo image search instead, but that's rare.
